Contact Information for Clinton County General Assistance Programs

Persons may  contact the General Assistance Office by phone at 242-1880 or in person to request an application and schedule an appointment.  Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Applicants are required to provide certain documents to verify their need for assistance.  Eligibility is based on income, resources and residency.

Assistance may be granted one time only or it may be granted more than once depending on the applicant's circumstances.

Persons who believe they are unable to work because of a disability are required to apply for disability.  Those who are able to work, but are not currently employed are required to make face-to-face job contacts each week of the month they are applying for assistance.

All assistance granted through this program is subject to repayment if or when the applicant becomes able.  Applicants who transfer resources or provide false information in order to qualify for assistance shall be sanctioned from future assistance and may be subject to prosecution.
