Homestead Tax Credit

(Code of Iowa Chapter 425)

Any property owner who is a resident of the State of Iowa may receive a Homestead Tax Credit.  To be eligible, the property owner must occupy the property for at least 6 months of each year, including July 1st each year.  The Homestead Tax Credit is applied for only once and continues until the property is sold or the owner no longer qualifies.

Homestead Tax Credit reduces the taxable value of the property by a maximum of $4,850 or by the amount which does not allow the taxable value to be less than zero.

Contact the County Assessor's Office for more information on this tax credit.
